About Hoard Assist

We help families find help — fast
Hoarding situations don’t announce themselves. They build quietly over years, and when the moment finally comes to act — because of a health scare, a family intervention, a landlord notice, or the loss of a loved one — most people have no idea where to start.

Hoard Assist exists for that moment.
We connect individuals, families, and property owners across California with certified, compassionate hoarding cleanup specialists who know how to handle not just the physical cleanup — but the emotional weight that comes with it.

Our Story

Why we built this

Most people searching for hoarding cleanup help don’t find what they need on the first try. They land on generic junk removal companies unprepared for the complexity of a hoarding situation, or they get quoted prices that don’t reflect the reality of the job, or they reach out and never hear back.

At the same time, families are often dealing with one of the hardest moments of their lives — navigating a parent’s declining health, an inherited property in crisis, or a loved one who has lived with hoarding disorder for decades. The last thing they need is a frustrating search experience on top of everything else.

HoardAssist was built to close that gap. We did the work of finding, vetting, and building relationships with the cleanup specialists who are actually equipped for hoarding situations — licensed, insured, biohazard certified, and trained to work with sensitivity and discretion. So when you reach out to us, you’re not starting from zero. You’re getting connected to the right people, in your city, who can help.

Who We Help

We’re here for anyone navigating a hoarding situation

Families Whether you’re helping an aging parent, intervening for a sibling, or dealing with a property left behind by a loved one, we understand that hoarding cleanup is rarely just about the stuff.

Our specialists are chosen for their patience and compassion as much as their professional credentials.

Property owners & managers A hoarding tenant situation can escalate quickly — from a complaint to a code violation to an uninhabitable unit. HoardAssist connects landlords and property managers with cleanup crews who move efficiently, document thoroughly, and work in compliance with local disposal regulations.

Estate & probate situations Inherited a property that needs a full cleanout? Handling probate for a family member who lived with hoarding disorder? Our network includes specialists experienced in estate cleanouts who can work with attorneys, family members, and real estate agents to get a property cleaned, cleared, and ready.

Our Commitment

What we stand for

Compassion first Hoarding disorder is a recognized mental health condition. Every interaction — from your first inquiry to the final walkthrough — should be handled with care, patience, and zero judgment. We hold our specialists to that standard.

Discretion always We know that many families prefer to keep this process private. Unmarked vehicles, confidential service requests, and professional conduct on every job are non-negotiables in our network.

Speed when it matters Some situations can’t wait. Whether it’s a county code enforcement notice, an estate deadline, or a health emergency, we work to connect you with available specialists as quickly as possible — often within 24 to 48 hours.

How We Vet Our Partners

Who makes it into our network — and how we decide

HoardAssist is a referral service, not a franchise. The cleanup specialists in our network are independent businesses — but that doesn’t mean we work with just anyone.

Before a contractor joins our network, we confirm:

1. Licensing and insurance Every contractor must hold a valid California contractor’s license and carry general liability insurance appropriate for the scope of hoarding cleanup work, including biohazard handling where applicable.

2. Biohazard certification Hoarding situations frequently involve biological hazards — human waste, animal waste, mold, pest infestations, and decomposition. Contractors handling Level 3 and above situations must hold appropriate biohazard remediation certification.

3. Experience with hoarding-specific situations Hoarding cleanup is fundamentally different from standard junk removal. We look for contractors with documented experience handling ICD Level 1 through 5 situations, including animal hoarding, estate cleanouts, and court-ordered remediation.

4. Commitment to compassionate service This one is harder to verify on paper — but it matters most. We look for contractors with demonstrated track records of treating clients and occupants with dignity, discretion, and patience. In a niche where word of mouth travels fast, reputation is everything.

Note: HoardAssist does not perform independent inspections of contractor work. We encourage all clients to independently verify credentials and to review contractor history before work begins. See our full Disclaimer for details.

How we make money — and why we tell you

HoardAssist is a lead generation and referral business. We rank in search engines for hoarding cleanup searches, we collect service requests from people who need help, and we pass those requests to cleanup contractors who have a commercial relationship with us.

We tell you this not because we have to — but because we think you deserve to know. If you’re in the middle of a difficult family situation, the last thing you need is to wonder whether the service connecting you with help has your interests at heart.

Our interests are aligned with yours. We only get paid when we generate real leads that turn into real jobs. That means we have every reason to connect you with contractors who do good work, treat people well, and deliver on what they promise. A bad contractor reflects on us — so we take our network seriously.
